Always Part of Our ʻOhana
For more than five years, many of you have loved the handmade crafts and heartfelt cards created by Logan, our dedicated young volunteer. Through every special occasion, his creativity and care brought smiles, comfort, and connection. We're excited to share an update on Logan after his first semester at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
Reflecting on this new chapter, Logan shared, "I've loved my first semester of college! It's been incredible to meet and interact with students from not only all around the U.S., but also across the world." He's planning to double major in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry and Statistics & Data Science, and has fully embraced campus life. "I've enjoyed the ability to explore a variety of extracurriculars at Yale and am involved in clubs connected to the Native American Cultural Center, as well as Simplex Sciences, an undergraduate biotechnology venture."
Coming from Hawaiʻi, adjusting to life on the East Coast has been both challenging and rewarding. "Having been born and raised in Hawaiʻi and attending ʻIolani from kindergarten to 12th grade, it's been awesome to spread my wings and discover new possibilities," he said. At the same time, his connection to home remains strong. "I miss most the communities and strong sense of ʻohana in Hawaiʻi... ʻohanas such as Touch A Heart's continue to hold a special place in my heart."
One of the moments Logan carries most closely is his time with you. "Soon before leaving for college, I had the opportunity to help distribute the final craft that I put together. Meeting and speaking with the kūpuna in the community was a deeply impactful experience." Those memories were comforting and grounding when he felt homesick.
As he looks ahead, Logan's appreciation for Touch A Heart remains unwavering. "Throughout high school, and during my acclimation to college life, the Touch A Heart community's support has given me the strength to continue during difficult times. I cannot express the gratitude that I have for this community."
While we miss Logan's thoughtful gifts and gentle presence, we're thrilled to see him thriving and continue to wish him all the best
