You may recall that last year we kicked off our "Keep Our Engine Running!" campaign to raise $21,500 to buy out the van that we had initially been gifted a two-year loan of through the Servco Centennial Service Campaign. In just over a month, we exceeded our goal by over $3,000.
This was all made possible because of you—our amazing community. We're beyond grateful for your generous contributions and helping us spread the word about this fundraiser. We also thank our dear friend Dr. Harold Ayabe for providing a $10,000 matching donation.
It brings us great joy to report that as of last Tuesday, January 25, the van is now an official member of the Touch A Heart ohana. As a trusty member of our team, it will continue being used to transport our meals, supplies, equipment, and personnel so that we can serve our community. The van will also be essential for transportation once we're able to resume taking our trainees and apprentices on field trips, which we've had to pause due to the pandemic.
"It's so amazing that we were able to purchase the van and now it has a permanent home with us," said our Executive Director Robin. "We couldn't have done so without our community of supporters who always come through for us with their tremendous giving hearts and spirits."
We also want to note that the additional funds raised from the campaign gave us the ability to purchase an extended three-year warranty on the van.
We invite you to join in celebrating this milestone by helping us name our van. Submissions can be sent to info@touchhearthawaii.org, or you can write your name and suggestion down on paper and bring it to our Kupuna and Family Meals pickups. Please submit your ideas by Wednesday, February 16.
Thank you again for your continued support that continues to fuel our hearts. Together, we're transforming lives, one heart at a time.
