Social Enterprises
For-profit businesses with a non-profit mission and heart for our islands & community.
“Employment social enterprises (ESEs) are businesses built to do good. They provide jobs, training, and support to people who are getting back on their feet after experiences like incarceration or homelessness. Employment social enterprises exist because they see this talent pool for the strengths they hold, not the barriers they face. And they build businesses where this talent can shine.” (REDF)
Our social enterprises provide:
- Hands-on experiences for interns and apprentices
- Employment for graduates
- The ability to become more self-sustainable
- Opportunities for everyone to serve and give back to the community
Ohana Meals started during 2020 out of our desire to ensure that the kupuna (elderly) in our communities still had access to meals during the pandemic lockdown. Since many kupuna were at higher risk and could not go grocery shopping as they normally would, we prepared and delivered meals to them. We have grown into a vibrant community that still makes meals and delivers them weekly to kupuna, families, and working professionals!
