A New Journey Begins
Pebbles (left) and Hannah (right) with Chef-Trainer Curtis (center) are the newest members of our foodservice vocational training program. Over the coming weeks, they'll build culinary skills, workplace readiness, and confidence as they work toward their future goals.
Please join us in welcoming Pebbles and Hannah, our newest interns in our foodservice vocational training program.
Pebbles was introduced to Touch A Heart through peers and staff at Lydia House, a program of Liliʻuokalani Trust that provides housing, workforce training, life coaching, and other support services for young adults transitioning into independence. Her previous work experience includes positions at McDonald's and Fisher Hawaiʻi. "I'm most excited to work in a group and individually to create meals for others, and hopefully do some baking," she shared.
Hannah learned about Touch A Heart through Dynamic Healing Center, one of our partner organizations that provides mental health, addiction recovery, housing, and family-centered support services. With previous experience in fleet services, Hannah is looking forward to gaining new skills and moving forward toward employment opportunities.
As they begin their journey with us, both interns are focused on personal growth and building a brighter future. Pebbles has a goal of becoming a better communicator by the end of the program. "I would be a new person by sharing and acknowledging other people's opinions and giving feedback," she said.
Hannah expressed gratitude for those who have supported her along the way and looks forward to the opportunities ahead. She also wants others to consider participating in the future. "I hope that people would come to this program and learn to become a kitchen worker," she said.
Pebbles also shared her appreciation, adding, "Thank you for giving me this opportunity to work with you folks."
We're excited to walk alongside Pebbles and Hannah over the few weeks as they develop kitchen skills, workplace readiness, and confidence for the future.
