Thanks to generous grants we received from two foundations, we've been able to provide Kupuna and Family Meals to other nonprofits.
Since November 2020, we've been donating 20 or more meal sets every week to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Hawaii, which provides a home–away–from-home for seriously ill children and their families.
RMHC-Hawaii President Jerri Chong shared the following message:
"Robin and her crew at Touch A Heart do so much more than just prepare meals for people in need. Their unique training program puts love and care into the work they do and meals they provide, something felt keenly by our families at the Ronald McDonald House. This organization has provided meals for our families throughout the pandemic, coming to our rescue when volunteer programs were suspended, and donated food and meal prep resources became severely restricted. And because of their team's own personal experiences that drive Touch A Heart's mission, they understand the pain and hardship our families are going through, and what the meals mean to them. It means that someone cares! We're so grateful for Touch A Heart's support, and for the wonderful meals that feed both body and souls."
This year, we added He Ala Hou O Ke Ola ("A New Path of Life") aka HAHOKO, a faith-based transition program for men, to our list of recipients, providing them with 10 meal sets every Wednesday. "Our organization accepts men into our program that have no money, no clothes, nowhere to go," said HAHOKO President David Makilan. "Touch A Heart has been providing weekly meals, and with our small budget, this has been such a big help."
We also thank you—our community—for donating meals to others in need. Your support, combined with the gifts from the foundations, ensures that our kupuna and others adversely affected by the pandemic have access to quality meals, sustenance, and meaningful connections to people who care. Together, we're touching hearts and transforming lives as we care for our community.
