Rooted in Purpose
As Apprentice Leslie prepares to return home to Hawaiʻi and rejoin the Touch A Heart ʻohana, she does so with a renewed sense of purpose, gratitude, and readiness for the next chapter of her journey.
"I'm most excited to come home—to reconnect with my grandchildren and family, the Touch A Heart ʻohana, and to serve alongside people who truly live out compassion," Leslie shared. "Being back in Hawaiʻi is where my heart feels grounded. This next chapter feels like a return not just to a place, but to purpose."
During her time away, Leslie experienced growth through reflection and learning. "I learned resilience and patience," she said. "I learned how important it is to slow down, to listen, and to trust the process even when things feel uncertain."
Throughout it all, the support of the Touch A Heart community remained a steady source of strength. "Knowing I was prayed for, checked in on, and believed in meant everything," Leslie shared. "It reminded me that I wasn't walking alone and that community truly carries you when you need it most."
Upon her return, Leslie will step into a new role with Baker's Heart. "I feel honored and humbled to take on this role," she said. "Training under [Director of Operations & Training] Colin is an opportunity I don't take lightly. I'm looking forward to learning, growing, and developing the skills needed to serve with excellence—while staying rooted in compassion, accountability, and heart-centered leadership."
Leslie is also focused on continued spiritual and personal growth, as well as strengthening her relationships with family. "This journey reminded me that when people lead with love, it truly changes lives " she shared. "[Executive Director] Robin, Colin, and this organization are good examples of that. I'm grateful to be part of something bigger than myself."
We look forward to welcoming Leslie home soon and walking alongside her in this next season of growth, healing, and service.
