Meaningful Momentum
As Jennifer marks six months as our Employment Social Enterprise (ESE) Operations Manager, she reflects on a season of growth, alignment, and momentum.
Her transition from a volunteer into a staff role gives her a new vantage point. "It's been very eye opening from a business perspective to see how the nonprofit part of the organization aligns with the employment social enterprises," she said. "It's amazing to see a working model that balances the mission of truly taking care of people and contributing back to the community with a self-sustaining economic engine."
That balance—between mission and sustainability—sits at the heart of her work. From supporting workforce development to strengthening systems that ensure long-term impact, Jennifer helps steward both the people and the processes that move us forward.
One moment that stands out most to her has been witnessing the daily dedication of our ʻohana. "Everyone is so hardworking, creative, and resilient," she said. "We're a lean and mighty team that's not afraid of rolling up our sleeves and making it happen so others have an opportunity to do great things in this world." Watching our team members grow in skill and confidence continues to motivate her.
Jennifer is especially proud of the operational improvements implemented over the past holiday season. From developing new forecasting tools to refining how Shopify supports ʻOhana Meals and Baker's Heart, "even the small tweaks... have had an amazing impact on our processes."
She's also learned that not everything can—or should—be systemized. "There are a lot of things that are just inherently organic, and they're better that way," she reflected.
Looking ahead, Jennifer is excited to help turn vision into reality. "Once we uncover pathways for transformation, we'll keep unlocking our potential to be so much more, together." Above all, she remains grateful for all of you—the community that makes our work possible.
